The doctor really looks like borg in the preview.

Also don’t understand the point of the last scene or when those kids met the doctor to surmise that he is her boyfriend.

But really I could watch a spin-off show of Vastra, Jenny, and Strax. 

Does anyone else think its a little weird that Jenny is the name of the girl in victorian England and the Doctor’s daughter?

I finally got around to reading Straggletag’s starbucks series and now I have inappropriate Gold thoughts any time I walk into a starbucks. Including the one at my school.

I’m putting this in most of my fandom tags because shit this is awesome. Way to go Wil Wheaton, especially love that he is wearing 4’s scarf and addressing a little girl.

I come from a family with very rigidly defined gender roles and so me liking to read and being obsessed with batman and sci-fi and such was frowned upon by certain family members. For awhile I felt bad, but then I realized fuck that. I love comics. I love Who (even if I sometimes feel the need to critique it). I love psychology. I love most things with the word star somewhere in its title. Most of all though I love sharing the things I love. In my master’s cohort, I have turned 5 people into whovians, 2 people onto Game of Thrones, 1 person onto Once Upon a Time, and 1 person onto Young Justice. Hopefully I have helped most of my students find something about psychology they can be passionate about. So you go Wil Wheaton keep spreading the nerd self-empowerment!

So I was finally pleased with a new episode of who! I love the show still, but I feel like this half of the series has been lackluster and I largely think the issue has been Clara. I liked her in Asylum of the Daleks and she wasn’t bad in the Christmas special, but modern Clara has been lacking a spark for me. She seems to be such a special snowflake who has no flaws and magically makes everything better.

While that was still largely the case here, she showed some real humanity. Primarily fear. She showed that she has some character beyond that which the tardis has given her by not liking her. The fear she had wasn’t just of the weird creatures, but also of the Doctor and I think that a little bit of fear is necessary in any Doctor/human!companion relationship. Especially this post-war Doctor who has been shown to have some very dark elements. He is a being with more knowledge and power than any human can ever possess.

While we as both viewers and wanna-be companions can wish that we could hear that magically sound and whisked off to WWII, a planet stuck on the edge of a black hole, shakespearean times, the planet of the Ood, or just hang out in space without fear of oxygen deprivation, it is necessary to remember that the Doctor has seen more death and destruction than a human could 100 times over and without some fear in the relationship, we are merely a reflection of his best qualities and that can and will send him down a darker path. Without a reflection of fear, the Doctor cannot see how his actions can affect beings lesser than Time Lords.

Now, an issue is that Clara’s fear was basically retconned out of existence, but entire characters have had this happen and been brought back so I have hope that this path will continue and both the Doctor and Clara will become more developed and the path will continue.

Obviously I put too much thought into a 50 year old character, but meh.

I guess it would appear so for some, but I have some points here.

Everyone on the show (with the exception of Henry) is more than 28 years old. That includes little Hansel and Gretel and seemingly 19 Cinderella.

Hook is also 300…

This ^. In my opinion if you ship Captain Swan (or really Captain/Hooked anything), but think that the age difference of Rumbelle is creepy. I think you’re a little bit of a hypocrite. Anyone with Neal is almost as bad, there’s only like a 20 year age difference between Neal and his father and that is merely a blip in their lifetimes.
